Time & Location

30 Nov 2023, 18:00 – 22:30

Manchester, Lever St, Manchester M1 1FL, UK

About the event

Our current Community Custodian, Adam Laidler, will lead an engaging conversation inspired by Francis Weller's insightful book, “The Wild Edge of Sorrow.” As a group, we'll explore the layers of our collective sorrow, from ancestral grief to our connections with our planet and loved ones. If you prefer, you can just sit and listen to the talk - active involvement is optional.

Adam will share his own experiences of grief, emphasising the importance of safe spaces for processing our losses, including  dreams that never quite materialised, things that should have happened but didn't, and our grief for Mother Earth.

Running order of the evening:

  • 6.00pm - Doors open
  • 6.30pm - Grounding meditation
  • 7.00pm - Food served
  • 7.45pm - Talk begins
  • 9.15pm - Talk concludes
  • 9.30pm - Sharing circle

Contrary to what you might expect, this evening won't leave you feeling down. Instead, you'll leave with a deeper appreciation for the beauty of life and the connections we share. By embracing grief, we can actually lead fuller, more meaningful lives.

We hope you welcome this opportunity to explore the transformative power of grief in a welcoming and supportive community.

This event is part of a series of events on grief, which includes a soothing Grief Ceremony and a Grief Circle where we can share comforting words, and be held in community.

Notes on activities

Please note you need to select tickets for each part of the evening, including the talk, meditation, food and sharing circle. Food is also available to purchase at the venue, but if you want to guarantee a serving we suggest you purchase a ticket in advance.

Accessibility & Cost of Living

This venue does not currently have accessible toilet facilities and they are seeking to change this. Until then, we are seeking other spaces to host events to ensure as many as possible can attend and that things remain affordable.

We have tickets available for anyone on a low income, no questions asked in exchange for services within the community. If you'd like one of these please email mcrpsychedelic@gmail.com.

Disclaimer

Whilst we'll talk a lot about psychedelics, we ask that you don't bring any with you to the meet-ups, nor solicit them from members. It's worth remembering that possession of these substances remains illegal in the UK and we want to make sure everyone who comes along feels safe doing so.
